I have been on propecia/proscar for over 10 years and I am finished sexually. I did not know why till I came across this website by accident and
it all makes sense to me now. My question is has anyone been on the stuff for more than 5 years and had some sort of recovery. Recently Viagra and Cialis don’t even work anymore.
Fist things first.
Are u still on the poison?
If so your best way to get back in shape is to quit, weaning off may be beneficial, the jury is still out on that. But if uve been on for 10 years i think weaning off is a good idea, your in no rush.
Evertyhing else, cialis, viagra, horny goat weed etc etc will just be band aids and a poor solution unless u need them when u are off the poison too. This is unlikely.
The norm is that the sexuall sideeffects go away after disscontuning the drug. We are the exception and not the other way around
Best of luck with your recovery.
I have quit (my 3rd day). I don’t want to ween off. To me poison is poison. I just want to live as long as I can with my wife. I no longer
care if I have hair or if I can never perform sexually, (then that’s the
price I pay for my vanity). I am over 50 years old now, so long life and
a healthier liver would be a priority at this point.
I do thank you for your encouraging words…I am glad we are the
exception and not the rule. It’s still weird to me that the FDA could
approve of such a drug…I am at a new trust level with western medicine.
Could you please tell me your story troubledfinuser 2, or direct me to
your story if you already put it on the form.
Has anyone recovered from taking propecia for 10 years has I had?
I just recently quit.
First – generally speaking most men do recover to their pre-fin state. We here are the exception rather than the rule.
Second – it’s only been 3 days off the drug, and it can take up to a month for DHT levels to come back online… if you haven’t already, please read the FAQ at top of site.
Basically if everything comes back online in the coming weeks/months, then you probably have no reason to worry. If things get better for a short period of time and then get much worse, then there is cause for concern.
In the meantime suggest you get BLOODWORK per the list in FAQ and try not to stress as it is early days yet.
Cheers.
Thanks for your kind response…you have given me some hope.
How long were you on the drug? I am so thankful for this form.
Thanx Mew,
I checked out FAQ and I will see my doctor on Monday. I will let you know how I am doing in a couple of months. Thanx for the heads up.

Good luck.
Does anyone have any idea how many people are on finasteride? Millions or thousands? What % do you think have the side effects that we are experiencing? I suspect it is more than the 1 to 2% claim. Just curious
I have decided to go cold turkey. I will write if I get any complications.
Most likely millions worldwide.
Side effects percentages, based on various studies I have read, I think somewhere between ~5-30% of men, with 10-15% seeming to be the average… but don’t quote me on that. It most definitely is higher than Merck’s 2% claim, in my opinion however.
I took Propecia for about eight years or so I’m going through the crash now it’s been almost 11 months can you write an update on what is happening to you thank you
