I’m having a difficult time understanding the hormones and mechanisms behind nocturnal erections. The fact is that I have good nocturnals, which quickly fade upon waking, along with ZERO spontaneous/sexual erections.I respond moderately to PDE-5 inhibitors if used on a day when I feel some libido. What are the chemicals/hormones involved in nocturnals? Is NO and cGMP involved? What about DHT’s influence on NO?
Thanx!

Great article Badluck…I got all my answers.Thank you.
when i was “suffering”, i didn’t get morning erections.
I’ve since made a full 100% recovery. My problems were all in my head.
However, being severely stressed out (which i’d imagine most men here are), i didn’t get them.
So stress will get rid of the morning woods too…
Keep the chin up folks.
Whalen72,
I have spending time on some of the muscle boards and other forums. There are a lot of knowledgable men on these forums. I feel some of these mem seem to know more than doctors I have seem.
High Estrogen will kill morning wood. If your level is high you need to lower it, but it seems to be a delicate balance. If you lower it too much, you will have problems as well.
It’s good that your having moring wood, mine is “ZERO”. Your Estrogen may not be a factor.
This is a good write up from a body builder forum on estrogen and it’s effect on males:

Badluck,
thanks for posting that article. It is a great read. It confirms what I have felt, that some of the problems many of us are experiencing are due to E levels that are not right in comparison to are T levels. I do state some, as I think our bodies are complex and propecia messed up many of our hormones.
After reading that write up it seems Arimidex may be more helpful than Clomid for combating a high E problem.
Thank you BostonUSA for your input.I’m still in the same boat…good nocturnals,a bit of quickly fading morning wood, and ZERO spontaneous erections.I don’t think E is a factor in my longstanding problem.
I started getting weak morning wood after I started reading this forum. Is it possible it is just in my head? Serious question, I had no problems with morning wood till I started reading up on side effects.
If you believe your issues are “mental”, they probably are. Finasteride’s side effects are real, however. Genital tissue atrophy, gynecomastia, decreased/watery semen etc – if you have no issues from SP usage, other than freaking yourself out, then you are likely suffering from psychological issues. This forum is not geared towards those questioning if they have problems or not.
I understand that, but it’s kind of a coincidence that it started happening a few weeks after quitting SP. That is where my fear came from, granted it could all be in my head , I just found it kind of weirdthat I started getting no morning wood after having no problem with it my whole life. I always thought of no morning wood as being a sign of a physical problem that is why Im starting to question it.
