i stopped taking propecia pills after just 6 weeks >>> but now i`m loosing hair from the rest of my head ( sides and back ) … idont know why this is happening … so can someone tell me is this normal after stoping that crap propecia pills ? thank you
Losing hair after Finasteride is normal since the gains on the medication will be lost after taking it. However, losing from other areas of the head (sides/back) is not necessarily normal… might be a sign of reflex hyperandrogenicity.
I have been rapidly losing the hair on the sides of my head (as well as top) since I quit propecia. I am wondering if it is related to my thyroid, since I may be hypothyroid.
I also found that it may just be Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia. See bottom of this page:
I have no significant hairloss since stopping fina over 2 years ago, in fact i have better hairstatus now than 10 years ago wtf.
Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia doesn not happen suddenly … what happened to me was fast and in less than a month … it started right after i stopped propecia … but i red something interesting called (Telogen Effluvium) which is caused by several things including medicine drugs … so i guess i have it … read it here patient.co.uk/showdoc/23068833/
if you’re losing your hair, it’s not just gonna be the typical MPB areas. All your hair will thin somewhat. I had hair like a carpet, but it’s thinned ALL over, albeit more in the MPB areas. I used to think it was telogen effluvium or something else, but nope it’s just good ol MPB.
It makes sense, you ever see a bald/balding guy with extremely thick hair on the sides or back? No, it all thins to some extent.
default87 . in the normal cycle of baldness . hair thinning takes years . as well as the sides and back of the head . bald men looses sides and back hair within years . but my hair on the back and sides thinned rapidly in just weeks and this is not normal for even worst bald method . its the crap propecia as i mentioned .
MPB varies greatly between people. When I quit propecia, I could tell my hair was thinning on a weekly-monthly basis.
I just said what I said because there was a long time when I was positive I had TE, even though everyone on hairlosstalk.com and other sites said “yeah I thought I had TE but I was ultimately just not willing to face the facts,” or something to that effect.
I even had some legitimate reasons to believe I had TE. But ultimately if you’re a man losing hair, 98% you have MPB and just MPB.
Which of course isn’t to say you can’t be in that distinct minority.
