Have just quit looking for advice

Hi i have just quit propecia 1mg(used for 1 month) about 5 days ago and am suffering ed, brainfog, other mental probs and muscle twitches.

I have read many posts and of course am really concerned.

I am slowly coming better but am concerned about the “crash”

Im gathering that it is when the dht comes flooding back to the point that your body cant handle it an something “breaks” perminantley.

So i am wondering if i can do anything to help this … i know some may say wait and see but i have accepted i may be like this forever and that i may only get one shot at this.

Would it help if somehow i restricted the amount of dht when it comes back by using something like saw palmetto so it is easier for my body to handle or possibly getting my testosterone upped artificially as soon as possible so whn it comes back there is more t.

All ideas are welcome as i feel i have nothing to lose.

God i hope someon reads this and responds asap

Those are bad sides to have so I would take a lot of zinc, 50-75mg a day, avoid alcohol and stress and perhaps even go backon the drug and WEEN OFF VERY SLOWLY. EVERYONE WISHES THEY HAD DONE THIS.

Read the FAQ posted on the main section of the site.

You are lucky you found the site. When I came off, I saw all these posts but did not think to look at the faqs page. Now the site has a lot more links so you can’t miss the facts about this evil drug. I did all the research before starting the drug and thought this site was hog wash, had I found the faqs page at that time it would have saved my life. In the end, I panic’d and stopped taking the drug after seeing a change in my physique and the first bout with ED. I assumed everything would go back to normal and continued to go out on weekends and drink etc. Boom, crash a week later. Now I’m all done.

STAY AWAY FROM ALCOHOL. Your body is not in balance, if you knock your testosterone down by doing anything stupid, you could crash. Just relax for a month and you should recover fine.

Thanks for the advice guys

That’s alot of zinc, and as discussed on this site numerous times zinc is a 5AR inhibitor just like fin. It’s a double edged sword…it is good for alot of things like T, but bad for 5AR and DHT.

Get a blood test done as soon as possible. Find a good endo doctor, that believes Propecia may have caused your problems. You will soon discover, it is not easy to find a good open minded endocrinoligist.

Definitely do not begin artificially supplementing your testosterone via TRT or Androgel.
This is a very serious decision, that should be considered the last possible option. This decision becomes a life long commitment to this medication. You may well recover on your own still. What a shame it would be to rush into a decision like this one.

Good luck, bostonusa

Just stick with Dr.'s who have the most experiencing treating our conditions.

1.) Dr. Crisler (He is my doctor, I prefer him)
2.) Dr. Shippen
3.) Dr. Jacobs
4.) Dr. Goldstein

Plain and simple, otherwise you are wasting your time…Good Luck

It’s early days to be thinking about a doc, you’re lucky to find and post here now. It’s not what happens on the drug but what happens afterwards that’s the problem. I actually would have stayed on the crap had I any idea what was to come.

Luckyfax,

Staying on the drug defitely isn’ the answer either. I agree there were a whole host of sides that got worse when I quit, but I had some other horrible sides while on the crap too. Many of those have gone away over time. I had horrible brain fog, blurry vision, eyes sensative to wind and light, anxiety issues, sleeping problems, memory problems. These are the ones I had while on it, that have gone away.

The post period 6 months or so after quiting is the worst period. The so called, “crash”.

When on the drug for a month then a 10 day wien off period i suffered no sides maybe a slightly reduced libedo.
As soon as i took my last pill i was then hit by over weelming brain fog, insomnia, muscle twitches and ed problems.
Its been 12 days off now, i know its too early to know what my recovery will be like, i am still suffering these sides to a slightly lesser degree.
Im wondering if anyone can tell me whats happened…like the sceintific reason why i had no sides while on the drug and then everything when off the drug, if anyone knows.

Btw my hairs started falling out again…what a kick in the pants…good thing i cant feel it

tim1911983 ,

Be a little patient. You have been off for less than a couple of weeks. I know the hair falling out makes you feel worse, because you have so many side effects now. Actually, the hair falling out is good sign. It means your hormones are likely kicking back in again. Most of us have not begun losing our hair again, which is really rather scarey. Did we skew our hormonal profile permenantly?
