Gut Bacteria Test?

Has anyone here had a gut bacteria test? I signed up for one (https://ubiome.com) which was covered free under my insurance, but took a couple of months to get results back. A few things were reported out of range, but I didn’t fully understand how to interpret the results.

Given the latest Milcangi information today, and the role that gut-microbiota alterations play in PFS, I would suspect running the test and sharing results in a way we have with 23&me may show something. If anyone is familiar with these tests, and can deliver feedback, I’ll gladly post them.

@NewYorker this is a great post. I’ve not done the gut biome test, but I’ve been thinking about it for ages.
Even before Melcangi mentioned this in his research it seems that the gut biome is really important to health and scientists have only just started to realise this. It definitely could be another project to see if there are any similarities. I think we need to approach pfs research in all directions until we get a breakthrough. The projects such as 23 and me where you can get directly involved are really encouraging.

I have great insurance but never done anything out of the doctors office. Was this hard?

The company mailed a “kit”. Basically, you wipe with their tissue, then use a q-tip style swab to swipe the tissue, then place it in a vial. It took a couple of minutes and was easy. The wait for the results took a while, and I’m attaching my results with their diagnosis. There may be other companies that do the same, but this is the one I used.

My lab results are attached, and additional info is here: https://ubiome.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/SmartGut-Physicians-Guidelines.pdf

What/where is the new Melcangi report?
