Functional Medicine

I went and saw a functional medicine doctor and I was diagnosed with gut inflammation. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this?

Based on what test?

Comprehensive stool parasitology test: elevated EPX levels.

It makes me think that some lucky few were able to recover via fixing their gut. By fixing their gut, they fixed the gut-brain axis and they were able to restore proper neurosteroid metabolism. Unfortunately, most of us still here have not been able to do so. Maybe our neurosteroid metabolism is too damaged to fix simply by addressing the gut.

It’s worth to investigate in that issue but If you ask me why so many have problems with their guts , my answere would be that too many members eat too many supplements daily and after a few years your gut can’t take this anymore . I’m no doctor but I sometimes think that it can’t be good for your gut . Guys be careful !!!

Yeah that’s why almost all of us are deficient in vitamins like B, D and zinc on these blood tests. Our immune system health coincides with the health of our gut. I’m sure we all suffer from inflammation and malabsorbtion issues. This healthy diet will generally help anybody here to try to maximize what you can.

What did he say to do to fix gut inflammation??

This goes hand in hand with PFS. I had never had real digestion problems, after my crash I felt a horrible sensation of food sitting in my stomach not being digested… It was very strange. Never had it before that point it was a sudden onset. Digestion problems lingered from that point forward. Probiotics do help me, I’m sure of that. I start getting nauseated and ill feeling when i go a week or more without them.

Inflammation could well be a part of the pfs jigsaw it’s something I’m looking into right now and hope to post more about it over the coming months. For an upset stomach try probiotics. ReNew life do the best ones that really work (you get what you pay for with pro-biotics) or you can make your own using milk/water kefir. Ginger Root Extract should also help to settle the stomach and deal with inflammation. “In another study, published in October 2011 in the journal Cancer Prevention Research, the authors found that taking ginger root extract appeared to reduce markers of colon inflammation.” livescience.com/49553-inflam … lated_test

Cinnamon extract and Tulsi tea will also help with inflammation. hairlossbuddy.com/12/green-tea/ Obviously a tea drink that doesn’t affect dht but helps reduce inflammation would be better.

“What might surprise a few people is the study concluded that green tea didn’t stop hair loss by blocking DHT, as many had originally speculated. Instead hair loss was prevented by the “anti-inflammatory” properties of green tea. Whereas blocking DHT is only of use to men, anti-inflammatories are beneficial to the hair loss of both men and women.”

Omega 3 from cod liver oil/fish oil can reduce inflammation but it works best with butter oil westonaprice.org/health-topi … endations/

One of guys on here who made a full recovery was taking bio curcumin which is an anti-inflamm but it’s also listed as a 5ar inhibitor en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5-alpha-re … _inhibitor - Perhaps it’s more important to deal with the inflammation rather than be to concerned with 5ar as the former if dealt with properly may lead to better 5ar. Efforts to focus directly on hormones haven’t yielded the best results so far, there are clearly underlying factors that we haven’t looked into or done enough experimentation on which are affecting hormones.

I may trial curcumin again. I was taking this supplement when my muscle spasims improved and since coming off this and another supplement they have returned, but I will need to look into this again. I’ve read accounts of people with inflammation issues who have seen these improve when they were holidaying in India. Indian foods contain lots of tumeric/cucurmin along with other anti inflamm herbs. “according to the results of a study published in August 2011 in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, curcumin (the main compound in the spice turmeric, which is used in curry) could help suppress biological mechanisms that lead to the inflammation in diseases of the tendons.” livescience.com/49553-inflam … lated_test

Curcumin also uses the same receptors as cannabis which is another anti inflammatory livescience.com/49162-mariju … ation.html. In the mean time lets keep donating to the Foundation. If inflammation is a problem then they will find out and offer us a solution.

Post-Finasteride Syndrome Recovery: How to reduce gut inflammation

I am trying to address inflammation. I’m going paleo and trying great lakes gelatin. This product supposedly helps you repair your leaky gut and reduce inflammation which is important when addressing systemic inflammatory problems. I am also supporting adrenals and taking vitamin D.

I’ve noticed that sometimes when I take T boosters I get an itch on my legs. Didn’t Chi say something about having a rash before he recovered or something?

Also, does anyone know if synthetic 5 ar is currently available?

The Ray Peat and Weston Price diets are also worthy considerations when dealing with inflammation etc
