Does abstaining from alcohol help? Post experiences please!

Dht reaches a 65% suppression rate within the first 24 hours of dosing with 1 mg of propecia. Unfortunately Merck got a little funny with the statistics here as when I tried to compare it to the proscar stats it doesn’t work 100%. The information sheet for proscar 5mg states that it’s median dht suppression is 70% over a 4 year treatment period. It certainly gives the impression that you have but is not conclusive given the apples to oranges comparison.

The box plot that Mew linked to shows different results, at least for 5alpha-DHT. 5beta-DHT spikes and then returns to its baseline level over the course of one year of treatment. I do not know how many patients were studied for the creation of these graphs.

Honestly I don’t understand the graphs completely, the information I quoted came directly off Merck’s product literature for Propecia and Proscar.

I checked Merck’s literature and it is exactly what you say it is. To read the box plot, you can find the mean level for the group at the top of each bar. The range (minimum and maximum) of the readings for the group will be indicated at the top and bottom of the line that runs through the bar.

Both completely contradict one another so I am not sure which to believe. My inclination is to feel that Merck is wrong, since their description is much less precise, not representative of hard data, and they blatantly lie two sentences prior in the PPI by stating that Propecia has no anti-androgenic effects.

Interestingly, I just converted my most recently measured DHT levels (13 months off finasteride) from ng/dL to nmol/L and they are at 0.86 which is slightly higher than the average for those who have been on the drug a full 12 months.

I would tend (sarc) to disbelieve Merck simply going on their track record with propecia.

I went from drinking almsot every weekend to drinking almsot never… i drink less than once a month now…

I’m 23 years old and should be able to handle alcohol but i cant anymore. If i get drunk it takes me a good week to recover. I feel fatigued and mentally dull.

Also when i am drunk i feel a lot different then i used to feel pre fin. My drunk is very odd. I feel completely in my own world and have no inhibitions. Literally none. I do whatever i want to do without even the slightest feelings of wrong or right or safety. It’s most likely because i have no emotions and being drunk with no emotions is just… well like being a robot that just acts on whatever stimulus in its environment that grabs my attention regardless of anyone else around it. Like someone could literally hold a gun to my head and i wouldn’t flinch and could reach my hand into thier pocket and take their wallet right under thier eyes without any concern if thats what grabbed my attention.

It’s really creepy when i think of some of the things i have done the few times i have been drunk post fin. It’s totaly out of character of who i am. Mixed with the one week hang overs, that’s why ive pretty much quit drinking.

Frustrated,

In my case the effect is more pronounced if I abstain for 2 or 3 weeks, then have 3 drinks in an evening. Am roughly 175 lbs.

I know a pharmacologist studying catacholamines, next time I see her I’ll pose the question.

i will confirm this in the coming days, but i think that the days after i drink my brain fog is at its least, i think if i get smashed i get 4-5 days of lighter brain fog, i am only just making a connection here.
