had very minor side effects until i quit propecia and started anti-biotics on the same day. in fact - initially i thought my anxiety attacks were all a side effect of the antibiotics. it does seem that the use of antibiotics really plays a role in this.
I just wanted to bump this thread.
I was put on MASSIVE amounts of antibiotics shortly before I stopped taking Finasteride. It would have been within a few weeks.
I often wonder if that’s the root cause of my issues and Finasteride exastperated the problem. I have a “gut” feeling that finasteride destroys the good bacteria in the gut as it’s toxic or somthing and the antibiotics just finished us off.
This could lead to a massive candida problem.
This also might explain why most of the crew who went to Greece for treatment came back worse after the bombardment of antibiotics.
I would look into candida if I were you guys. I am.
There is a pattern emerging here.
if you do research on fluoroquinolones… the popular antibiotic that i was put on when the doctor diagnosed “prostatitis” without running any tests… there are tons of reports of tendonitis and things of that nature but they also report on MANY of our non-sexual symptoms. i sometimes wonder if all the guys that have mental side effects got them from antibiotics?
I never took antiboitics before or after Saw palmetto. Indeed last time I used AB was around 1997.
I was only taking bp medicine. Of course i took that over 2 years, so i dont really think there were any drug reactions. I remember i actually stopped drinking coffee the week before i crashed. I couldnt handle one cup. I even went to the emergency room the week before i crashed because i had the feeling of passing out. Also i felt the feelings of things not seeming “real” come in waves followed by panic attacks. I thought i was possibly about to start seizure activity. Thats the only thing the ER doc came up with. I only made the connection later as i now have this feeling almost 24-7. Its like looking back i see my bodys chemistry was hugely fluxuating until i crashed.
Lots of stuff unfortunately. I had asthma for years and took a long-acting bronchiodialator in combination with an inhaled corticosteroid (for about 10 years). I rotated different ones throughout the years. Only recently did I learn that there is a link between lower testosterone and possibly increased bone loss and the long-term use of corticosteroids. (see ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7809437). I am sure this only compounded the effects of fin. I have also used (as needed) antihistamines, singulair, and albuterol.
About 6 years ago (while on fin) I had my first incident with bi-lateral hearing loss and tinnitus. I had to go on prednisone and acyclovir for several weeks. Had no effect, but some of the hearing returned spontaneously, a month later. The ENT, thinking I might have Meniere’s disease put me on Diazyde for about a year. I was so scared to lose my hearing further I just took it. All these meds contribute to bone loss and low T (jcem.endojournals.org/content/93/10/3870.full).
I suspect that over the years, between fin and these other meds, my T just kept dropping. Whether that caused the crash or not, it’s hard to say but I doubt the interaction helped.
You know what’s the ironic silver lining? After crashing I stopped gluten and dairy. Asthma improved so much I don’t need the meds anymore.
i crashed 5 days after starting antibiotics
