I have just read a post in which a user speculated about the possibility of a conspiracy by the admins of this site.

I have to say that this is not the first post in this site that surprises me in this sense, on what seems to be almost paranoic thought.

Maybe it’s not the case, but one of the questions I have in mind (and probably no one has the answer today) is, could all this neurosteroid disruption caused by finasteride lead some users to paranoic thinking or similar mental disorders?

If this was the case, this would be something that the person who is experiencing paranoia (if it were the case) could not answer in a survey, as this is something they could not notice. Others would need to tell.

Maybe there’s no answer to this today, I have just written this quite quickly as this thought came to my mind while reading the conspiracy post and such post remembering me of some old users. If someone feels this post is offensive or worthless, feel free to close it.

And to be clear, I am not saying that some people are being paranoid, I am just saying that in case they were, it would be difficult to identify. Probably some of this people just wanted to attract some attention, but since this has come to my mind I thought I’d create a post with the questions that this may raise.

One of these users was angered that we would not allow him to post what amounted to a theory cobbled together from misinterpretations of science presented to the community as fact. He didn’t seem to understand that each covalently bonded (finasteride + 5-ar) molecule is eventually destroyed and replaced. I suppose in his eyes, we were suppressing his truth. Although, he absolutely would have been allowed to present his views as an opinion. Is this genuine paranoia, or lashing out in frustration?

The other appeared to simply be a spammer who said “here is the cure and where to buy it, if this gets deleted it is because they are covering up the truth!” … a pretty slick manoeuvre.

Just to lend some credence to what you are saying, there have been cases of psychosis reported in PFS patients and paranoid psychosis is often cited by family of Accutane suicide victims.

I went through a spell of thinking that one or many of my “supposed” friends and acquaintances might be poisoning me when I crashed.

I think this whole experience is so surreal that u start to question a lot of things. I for instance sometimes think big pharma is spying on me and doesn’t want me to find a cure. And that if i will, they will eliminate me or something. I know this is total nonsense, from a logical standpoint, but this situation is just eating away my sanity. I have also become very superstitious for instance. Thinking, if happening X happens, PSSD will be cured, that kind of shit.

How is the chance that the mental part in this syndrome is strong?
I just see lots of PSSD getting cured by psychotherapy and psychopharma. More than 90% of case had mental disease before ever touching SSRI. No surprise cause that’s what SSRI for. So the real question is.
Is this a thing in PFS too?

SSRI work on hormones like serotonine and a lot more, things that influence ur mood. If that gets fucked, ur mental well being gets too. What finasteride does to ur androgens, SSRI tend to also do on ur pleasure system, like dopamine/oxcycotin etc. Also, not a lot of PSSD people get cured by psychotherapy and psychopharma. It happens. And it makes sense some get lucky, cause the hormones involved in this got fucked by the SSRI probably, like serotonine and dopamine for instance, so u may get lucky, but for the more severe there is almost no chance. But yeah, I have noticed on this forum the complaints are just a tad different then on the PSSD forum. PSSD is more focussed on the anhedonia, where here it’s more about the sexual shit. But both have similarities. I do think people here also complain about feeling empty and shit.

I think alot of posters on this site have some sort of ocd/hypochondria and i feel like those people are more likely to be paranoid/suspicious

There’s no such thing as paranoia, it’s a term created in order to control people. However, it is obviously possible to be irrational.

Hi @adrian do you have a link to any of these cases? I would be very interested in reading about these experiences
