Chlorhexidine mouthwash

In a small study done with chlorhexidine mouthwash it was actually confirmed that its use could lead to sexual problems in men as well as high blood pressure.

We all know that the mouth is full of bacteria and that modern oral health care products aimed at providing fresh breath are very adept at trying to get rid of many of these bacteria. However, many of these bacteria are vital to your good health and this study proved it.

When you eat foods high in nitrate such as beets and spinach, the bacteria on the back of your tongue assist in a very important metabolic process that converts the nitrate to blood-vessel dilating nitric oxide.

This nitric oxide is vital for healthy blood pressure and for men to have a healthy sex life. In fact, medications that treat erectile dysfunction increase nitric oxide, which in turn dilate blood vessels.

So….If your mouthwash kills these bacteria it will hinder your body’s ability to create nitric oxide and prevent blood vessels from dilating.

In the study, researchers divided 7 healthy volunteers into two groups. They gave each of the participants either a chorhexidine-containing antibacterial mouthwash or a placebo. They then gave all the participants foods that increased their nitrate load.

The group that used the placebo mouthwash saw an increase in nitrate and nitric oxide load while the others who used the antibacterial mouthwash had a significant reduction in salivary conversion of nitrate to nitric oxide.

You can now see that strong, chemical mouthwashes may be causing more problems than they are curing.

I stopped using mouthwash years ago when I found out it could cause oral cancer.

Another thing to avoid is fluoride toothpaste

all modern mouthwash, body deodorant, shampoos, and even tooth pasts are BS. I have stopped using them. after stopping tooth past and tooth brush, you will not believe my teeth and gums are a lot better than before. I use wood stick (actually it is a root of a plant).

Interesting, my dentist just prescribed this mouthwash bc my gums have become so terrible, no doubt in my mind due to PFS. I’ve been using for two weeks with no change in sexual function

this is what I use

People don’t believe me how better my teeth have got.

You would be much better switching to a 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide based mouth wash.

Dilute it further with tap water to start off with: 4 parts of water to 1 part of HP.
So that works out as less than 1% strength.

What kind of dental problems are you guys getting? I’ve had a few cavities in the 2.5 years since I stopped SP use, but I’ve seen some here have developed halitosis, bleeding gums, etc? Would taking D3 and a calcium supplement help at all?

after stopping SP I had bleeding gums, enamel washed away and very sensitive teeth. Yes Vit D is huge help.

While on finasteride for 9 years I had rapidly receding gums and tooth enamel erosion. In fact my dentist asked if I was eating a ton of ice because of the damage (I wasn’t) off fin it has been horrible for 11 months, bleeding gums more recession. In fact I had a cleaning earlier this month, I had so much blood in my mouth, the dentist came in, stopped for a few minutes, and said “I have to tell you this is not normal” thanks Merck!!

probably your neurosteroids.

there was sarcasim in my last comment

Gum Disease May Be An Indication Of Low Testosterone
PUB. DATEDecember 2006
SOURCERN;Dec2006, Vol. 69 Issue 12, Special section p4
SOURCE TYPEAcademic Journal
DOC. TYPEArticle
ABSTRACTThe article discusses research on gum disease as an indication of low testosterone. It references a study by O. Daltaban and colleagues published in an issue of the “Journal of Perodontology.” The study revealed that men with low testosterone levels had 20 percent more gum disease than did healthy men.

And why has our testosterone bottomed out to hypogonadal levels?

There was sarcasm in that question

mine has because my free estrogen is too high this sends SHBG up and CBG up which is why I have both low free test and low free cort. I am not sure about you. But if it is your neurotransmitters just inject some T and your gums will be fixed up. Or maybe the neurosteroids in your gums will prevent the testosterone from working.

And why is your free estrogen too high? (See where I am going with this)

My point is watch what’s unfolding. There are tons of finasteride studies on the CNS, for years now. As I stated in another thread we should be praying to Melcangi and Traish because they seem to understand that something is going on at a neurological level. As Traish said once, “it appears that something biologically has been switched off” They are searching for this switch and I am pretty sure it’s not low T or corresponding high estrogen.

WHy is my free e2 too high. Honestly I think it is coming from the small nodules on my left nut. Or the testicles. That is my best guess at this stage. I do not belive it to be a problem in the periphery rather a problem in the production glands.

My E2 is really low though, Like almost out of range. So why would I be having dental issues (or any pfs issues) at all?

No Sarcasm in that post, seriously.

(sorry I sent you a PM, meant to post it in the thread.)

vincentv is talking of Saliva E2. Almost many of us have low E2 but have all the symptoms of high E2 which is from Saliva.

I already answered your question :

If you have low e2 symtoms and low free e2 then you have low free e2

if you have low free t and normal or high free e2 it means you have too much estrogen for your T and I belive the T will not work very well at all in this state.

You need to take a look at your symtoms and work out what they point to. For myself my symtoms correlate perfectly to my free hormone levels.

FeedMeMore :

First you took saw palmetto. So you are in the minority of people here, we may say SP and Fin cause similar problems but we do not know if it is the exact same issue for now. Second - are you experiencing the symptoms mentioned here for high e2?

Second: You say you have very low e2

Your results are :

Estrogens Total: 69 pg/mL [40-115]
Estradiol (Roche ECLIA methodology): 14.0 pg/mL [7.6-42.6]

Androgens :

Total Testosterone Serum: 374 ng/dL [348-1197]
Free Testosterone (Direct): 10.8 pg/mL [9.3-26.5]
DHT: 27 ng/dL [16-74]

Too me it looks like your restrogens are not low - your estradiol is double the min range and total is mid range. Now if your compare this to your testosterone levels they are hovering just above the range so I am going to say you are estrogen dominant. How can you even have mid level estrogens with such low free test? Such low free testosterone should mean very low total estrogen levels. Which you do not have. One factor I am not too sure about is what estrogen levels regular men have when they are suppresed via steroids? I am not sure if the body can or does up regulate aromotase to protect the tissues in this envionment or not. Or do men who are suppresed have very low T and very low E - When I was suppresed my E was in range and T was way below range. If anyone knows please tell us.

The other factor is binding hormones looking at total estrogens means nothing if you dont know how much is free. I do not know how to calculated it with SHBG - siliva test is best option. My total e2 was top 1/3rd of range but free siliva was over range. You can order a siliva test yourself without a doctor.
