C-Reactive Protein

Just was wondering, has anyone had c-reactive protein tested? This apparently is a marker for internal inflammation, which can lead to a variety of chronic health problems. It can be caused be things like heavy metal toxicity (or copper) - or who knows, perhaps finasteride - not to discount any other theories that may definitely be true - just wanted to put this out there and see if its been tested.

it could also be elevated because you have a cold , which happened to me

I originally blamed post fin symptoms on my heart, had CRP measured at least once a year for the past several years, never came back high.

mine rose, dr told me I am at moderate risk of heart attack.

My hs-CRP was low, but my Lipoprotein Particles which show major inflammation.

Has anyone else had this tested?

What other tests are there to measure systemic inflammation?

i had mine tested…let me check it

ok

C-reactive protein, serum
Method: ultrasensitive immunonephelometry

RESULT

0.20 mg / dL

REFERENCE

Indicator of cardiovascular risk

  • Below 0.1 mg / dL: low risk
  • From 0.1 to 0.3 mg / dL, intermediate risk
  • Up to 0.3 mg / dL: high risk

Indicator of infectious processes and / or inflammatory

  • 1.0 to 5.0 mg / dL, viral infections and inflammatory processes light
  • From 5.1 to 20.0 mg / dL, bacterial infections and inflammatory processes

What is interesting (but inconclusive- just interesting) about that link you provided is that all of the treatment methods tracked closely with many of the things that seem to bring relief to various people on this board (anti-fungal, steroids, etc.). Maybe the concept of inflammation really is something to take note of and dive a bit deeper with…

This guy destroyed his systemic inflammation, which was causing cancer using the paleo diet, magnesium and cold thermogenesis

I would highly recommend people on this forum take a look at the blogs of Jack Kruse and Chris Kresser

Just had my CRP checked due to some joint pain and inflamation that I have been having.

Mine measured < 0.4 mg/dL (< 0.7mg/dL)

So the verdict was obviously that everything is normal.

I also had:

ANA Screen w/ reflex
CCP Auto antibody
Rheumatoid factor
Blood sedimentation rate
x-ray
Lymes screen

Again, everything above was normal.

what was your result for the “indicator of infectious processes and/or inflammatory” ? i just see you posted the ranges?

I was on no medications or supplements for 3-4 weeks leading up to the bloodwork.
