hi guys im 21 years old n my hairs r thinnig n falling too…im already using 5% topical minoxidil…but it seems it is useless also when i apply it ,my head starts itching…so i was thinking to use Finasteride (Propecia)…but after reading this forum i hve decided not to use it so is there any alternative drug to stop or prolong a hair loss???also a friend of mine told me to shave my head in this way i can get a thick hair …is this true or not…shud i follow his instruction or not???
There are alot of different hairdrugs out there, however research them all very carefully and if they promote healthy hair because of a decrease in the hormone DHT, then stay well away from it. U r better off going to a hairloss forum asking for remedies. As for shaving yr head, alot of ppl who experience hairloss or thinning are shaving their heads. This will however not make yr hair grow out thicker or make more hair grow out. But it may give an appearance of healthier / thicker hair if u keep yr hair short. U have to try to see if this “illusion” works in yr favor.

There are natural 5AR inhibitors such as Saw Palmetto that block DHT, albeit in a different way than Finasteride… but you may experience similar side effects since the end result is a reduction in DHT.
