Allostatic Load

The concept of allostatic load provides that “the neuroendocrine, cardiovascular, neuroenergetic, and emotional responses become persistently activated so that blood flow turbulences in the coronary and cerebral arteries, high blood pressure, atherogenesis, cognitive dysfunction and depressed mood accelerate disease progression.”[[5]]
All long-standing effects of continuously activated[stress responses are referred to as allostatic load. Allostatic load can result in permanently altered brain architecture and systemic pathophysiology.

Homeostasis

Homeostasis is brought about by a natural resistance to change in the optimal conditions

Great stuff man. I’m going to look into this. I’ve had severe anxiety since 2013 thanks to fighting BDD and then got this Syndrome in 2016. The chronic stress and hopelessness have definitely wrecked havoc on my gut and neuroendocrine system.

Going to read to about homeostasis and allostasis. I wonder if ashwaghanda can be of use

Please saw, do not use anything, every time that we add anything to the system, it try keep the Homeostasis (natural resistance to change in the optimal conditions).
The best thing that we can do is to avoid stressful situations. Finasteride stressed more that enough or hormonal parameters.

My TSH is pretty high and ashwagandha raises thyroid levels so I’ve been curious to try it.

Withanolides as found in ashwagandha stimulate the production of 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 5a-reductase in vitro.

Be careful with ashwagandha if you have high thyroid levels. Also it might fuck with T:E ratios since it raises 17b-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.

I know people here have reported getting benefits from ashwagandha but I’m going to have to look more into it before even considering taking it.

You’re right, I’ll hold off on ashwaghanda for now. Gonna stick with simple diet, exercise, meditation routine for at least a few months

Sawproblemo, since 2012, to end 2015, around 4 years I was 24/ 7 suicidal all the time, and I started to get better after I improved that situation, in other words, it wasn’t because all that stress for so many years maybe I would be totally recovered already.
Stress and anxiety hurt you in a way that you can’t imagine.
