So I’m late 20’s and losing hair. Dermatologist prescribed me accutane and I have been on it for 4.5mo. My MPB seems to be accelerating so I inquired about the thinning hair. He prescribed me propecia. I had briefly seen it mentioned on hair loss forums, and even heard it mentioned in tv shows so I thought nothing of it. I got the “less than 2%” talk from my doc as well. So tonight I took one 1mg propecia pill and then decided to start reading the threads. I gotta tell ya, I’m a little scared that I might lose my libido, or have ED. I know it was just 1 pill, but I see others noticed effects after 2 days.

Convince me I’m overreacting lol. Suffice to say I am not taking another pill. I’ll go bald. I don’t care.

Forget about this forum and propecia and live like normal, you wont have a problem.

This forum is for men who are suffering from persistant side effects after discontinuing use of finasteride. It’s not a forum for discussing wether you should use it or not.

You’re really asking for huge trouble taking Accutane and Finasteride. None of us here would touch either of those drugs again with a gun pointed to our heads.

btw- if your worried about a little bit of ED or losing your libido there isnt a guy on this forum who wouldnt trade the world just to be worried about those two things. Fin has basically destroyed our entire lives with serious physical and mental issues, alot of us years after we quit taking the drug.

But as boston2009 said, this isnt a forum to discuss whether or not you want to take Fin.

You’re not overreacting. This stuff screwed me up permanently after 15 freaking 1mg pills. I think there have been a few people on here who ended up with permanent sides after as few as 5 doses.

Sexual sides are just the tip of the iceberg. If I had understood the SERIOUS non-sexual health problems which can result, I never would have touched fin, but I thought it was all stuff like low libido and ED, which I didn’t care about since I thought if I went bald I’d never have sex anyway.

The main thing I didn’t understand though was that you could get screwed up permanently by taking it for a few days. I thought all the people who had the persistent sides had developed them over a long period of taking the drug. You can literally take this for 5 days, quit, seem fine, and then 2 weeks later all hell breaks loose… permanently. This is what you need to know.
