Yes, it is hard to accept that this condition is real, at first. The idea of persistent sexual dysfunction is intensely difficult to accept. Many people seem to behave like those who have been in an extreme road traffic accident. They have lost both legs and maybe arms too. And they cannot accept that they will never walk again.
But our situation is different because:
- We do not know that we are permanently afflicted
- We do not know the basic mechanisms behind why we are afflicted
The second point is what gives me hope. After all, if we do not understand this condition - then that gives rise to the the possibility we have a way out. If we understood it - we may then devise a treatment. Our lack of knowledge means we have no choice but to find out what has happened.
This is why the basic science research is so huge to us.
This is why the way out - picture a golden escape hatch, in the ceiling, which we cannot quite reach yet - is through the campaigns we are running. (I think of ‘we’ as the broad landscape, including PFS Foundation and RxISK.org.)
The way we reach up into the golden escape hatch - a treatment - is through these campaigns. Things we can do right now are located here:
You do not have to grieve forever for your former self. You deserve your libido back. You deserve the sexual desire you once had. We can reach the golden escape hatch. Take small steps - and we can get out of this mess. As said by an ancient Chinese philosopher: “Accomplish the great task by a series of small acts.” - Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
