Adding a profile picture

There has been such a massive influx in new people visiting the site, I thought it’d be nice to encourage people to add a profile picture to their name, it makes it much easier to recognise who you are since you won’t be just a bland letter and it also makes the threads look nicer, so it’s a win win for everyone.

You can add a profile picture by clicking your account icon, hitting the little gear icon and scroll down, you’ll see text saying profile picture, click the little edit icon and put something that suits.
Not really too important but nice all the same

@Devolution You said there has been a massive influx of people visiting the site. Are there official statistics about total visits and unique visits to the site over time? It would be great if you could share.

Hey Sibelio, it’s just my own experience of seeing new people posting, new account’s being made etc over the past few months, since the push to link all the drugs together and find a common cause, I’ve seen many new people come to this site and contribute to the discussion.

As far as I’m aware there’s a place in the “about” section of this site that allows you to see general site statistics, I think users means there has been 49 new user’s over the past 30 days which is a decent amount I’d say considering how niché this condition seems to be. Some come and go but I’d say on average there is a lot of traffic due to the people who lurk and don’t create an account.

I wish those guys would sign up.

Yeah the reason i mentioned that was because the odd few new posts you see people say they where lurking or didn’t want to make accounts etc, I guess it was the same with me initially over on acne.org, the first forum I ever visited, didn’t want to believe I had this condition and spent months reading random studies and other stuff which I didn’t understand and it all made me feel worse, best thing I did was get talking to people to get an idea of what was actually happening.

So if your “lurking” take my advice and sign up  we’re all here to help eachother, everyone’s extremely welcome and if you want to remain private like myself, create a new email address, that will certainly make you feel more comfortable about posting such personal stuff, it was another reason why I lurked for month’s myself.

I agree, if you’re reading this without an account, please sign up. People are very friendly and helpful and in my experience want to help.

I remember I felt very intimidated by the forum rules before I signed up. They sounded a bit too strict and stern to me. I was also very reluctant to create a member profile and answer all these questions. It definitely put a barrier for me to signing up. Maybe we need to edit and revise those rules. The other bad thing was that each post had to be approved and it would take two weeks for each post to appear. I think that has changed now?

It took years before I finally joined this forum I think mainly because of denial of what had happened i think that I can safety safe we have all been in a long term state of disbelief.
I spent Years of lurking this site and others trying to find out ways of reversing the damage eventually I just accepted things were what they were and that viagra was going to be a life long commitment and the memory issues were something i was going to have to live with.
I eventually joined this forum more so to help the new guys on the block stop panicking and making all the mistakes that alot of guys have trialing drugs that probably just make things worse.

Yes, it is hard to accept that this condition is real, at first. The idea of persistent sexual dysfunction is intensely difficult to accept. Many people seem to behave like those who have been in an extreme road traffic accident. They have lost both legs and maybe arms too. And they cannot accept that they will never walk again.

But our situation is different because:

  • We do not know that we are permanently afflicted
  • We do not know the basic mechanisms behind why we are afflicted

The second point is what gives me hope. After all, if we do not understand this condition - then that gives rise to the the possibility we have a way out. If we understood it - we may then devise a treatment. Our lack of knowledge means we have no choice but to find out what has happened.

This is why the basic science research is so huge to us.

This is why the way out - picture a golden escape hatch, in the ceiling, which we cannot quite reach yet - is through the campaigns we are running. (I think of ‘we’ as the broad landscape, including PFS Foundation and RxISK.org.)

The way we reach up into the golden escape hatch - a treatment - is through these campaigns. Things we can do right now are located here:

You do not have to grieve forever for your former self. You deserve your libido back. You deserve the sexual desire you once had. We can reach the golden escape hatch. Take small steps - and we can get out of this mess. As said by an ancient Chinese philosopher: “Accomplish the great task by a series of small acts.” - Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Very well put across and very true to word
We should Never Ever give up that’s what they want us to do…

You’re right. In the last days of the old propeciahelp forum prior to its adoption of this fantastic new software, new members were dependent on a lone admin to approve their posts. Now I believe all new members can freely post as the platform now is such that any rogue posts can be easily flagged and also there is an active team of moderators to best ensure a working, welcoming environment

Right. The forum is a lot better now on many levels, no doubt about that. Thanks to all that have made it happen! I am sure that has affected positively both the number of people who sign up and the level of engagement.
