A treatment for brain fog? pregnenolone

I experienced that I am feeling better (more focused and concentrated, les brain fog) with DHEA pill a 25 mg/day.

Question: could it be comparable with pregnenolone since both supplemental prohormones are important for adrenal glands? Also, some says that DHEA probably turns to estrogen in mans body. Could it be same situation with pregnenolone?

Cheeers,

Desperado.

DHEA is made from pregnenolone, so supplementing with DHEA may spare pregnenolone. That is probably why your brain fog got better.

I take 600 mg of transdermal pregnenolone per day and my E2 is 11.5 (10-42).

600mg, how many pumps is that on the life flo bottle?

  1. LOL

For such amounts you need to make your own. I made 15% preg but it wasn’t really helping.

Wow. That is about two bottles. I wasted a good £100 on that stuff man :cry:

M81 - in regards to hormone modulation, your endo sounds excellent. Have you suggested other forum members make an appointment?

You E2 actually looks low. 22-25 would be optimum. Low e2 can be problem of its own and can negatively affect libido and other things like joints and bone strength.

Yeah I know, but my free T is in the low range, so a low E2 has to be expected.

Obviously, I don’t use life-flo products. They dispense 15 mg of TD pregnenolone, which are definitely not enough for most people.

Making your own pregnenolone is not expensive. You can buy 100 grams (i.e., 100,000 mg) of pregnenolone powder online for $100. You can mix it with a liter of aloe vera gel and that will last for quite a while. You need syringes to dispense it. Alternatively, a dr can order it through a compounding pharmacy. Although in the US you can make your own pregnenolone without a prescription, I would not play with such high dosages without my dr knowing it and agreeing with it.

My dr is obviously not an endo haha. (How many endos address non-life-threatening adrenal issues?? :wink: ) He’s an integrative medicine doctor. In the US, you can find lots of doctors like him near your place. In Europe, I’m not sure. He’s not very expert in hypogonadism. For example, he didn’t know that clomid can be used for hypogonadal males and he regularly prescribes saw palmetto to his male patients (not to me!). But he’s very open-minded and puts adrenal and thyroid issues at the center of the picture, and that is what I was looking for in a dr.

I encourage everybody who has adrenal/metabolic issues to contact a local integrative medicine doctor. You may want to call them and ask if they treat these issues. Although these may just be symptoms and not the root cause of pfs, addressing them can literally change the quality of your life.

First, does pregnenolone helped someone in ED/libido/genital sensitivity department?

Since you mentioned E2 results, my E2 reading is:

estradiol: 109.70 pmol/L expected values (M): 28.0-156.0

while my T values are:

T = 15.00 nmol/L ref. 9.90-27.80
FTc = 0.284 nmol/L ref. 0.091-0.579
FT%= 1.890 ref.1.59-2.95
SHBG= 27.59 nmol/L ref.m. 14.50-48.00

I think I need to achieve better T/E2 ratio? What do u think? Oscar, Mew,drop a line or two

Deperado.

It depends on the person. In my case, it made me recover almost 100% for a few days, and then my libido got bad again, probably worse than the initial levels. Labs performed before and after this experiment showed that my thyroid hormones decreased. Supplementing with T3 made my libido come back for a few days again, but then it decreased – but at a level where I am at least functional.

I’ll drop a couple of lines on your blood test thread. Let’s keep this one focused on pregnenolone.

so you are back on square one?

From a libido point of view, yes, pregnenolone gave only temporary benefit. I had to add T3 to get steadily better, but even so the improvement was marginal. From the mental point of view, pregnenolone wiped away all sides I had: brain fog, anxiety, shyness, depression.

Hi, can you tell me where you ordered the transdermal pregnenolone? I bought the pills but I heard they don’t work…thanks for sharing

I buy pregnenolone powder at iHerb and I mix it with aloe vera gel from GNC to make a 10% concentrated gel.

I have been doing the porn test to see how long my wood takes to respond to erotic stimuli. I have been on pregnenelone for a couple days and my wood responds very quickly to porn. Last night it was up before i could press play. Then I woke up in the middle of the night with another good wood and felt horney.

I really think that you need to make sure your body temp is perfect before you come to any conclusions about pregnenelone. If your body temp is not perfect, you have problems and do not expect to feel good if your body temp is low… This is one of the best ways to test thyroid / cortisol. Measure yourself thought the day. So far i have NEVER felt bad when my temp was NORMAL. 37 Degrees c. So for all u guys, stop everything until you know that your temp is optimal. Over the last week or so using isocourt or pregnenelone I have been able to make great improvements. But I only feel good when my temp is normal!!!

Body temp logs should be added to the list of recommended tests. Its cheap and accurate. If your temp is low, your adrenals or thyroid are not optimal and this will cause many problems all thought your body. I would estimate that most people here who are feeling bad have a low body temp…

I couldn’t seem to find the powder form at iherb, I see the pregnenolone but not the powder- could you drop a link for us so we know we’re getting what worked for you?

It’s important to duplicate your advice, I don’t want to do something kind-of similar and wonder if I did it right. Exactly how much powder did you mix with the aloe vera gel? A link to the exact kind of aloe vera gel would be appreciated too. An exact recipe would be awesome.

If I sound strangely desperate it’s because I am.

I just received my shipment of Pregnenolone cream in the mail today. I’m going to purchase a thermometer and I’ll post results when I have some or even if I don’t.

What type of pregnenolone do you have?

I bought it from “life-flo”, it’s a lotion that I rubbed on my under arm but only because I couldn’t find the powder and recipe that m_81 is using . After about 30 minutes I believe I feel better, I’ll know for sure when I go to hang out tonight and interact with people. My normal self is interactive and talkative but since my crash I’ve been more like Rain Man without his amazing memory.

I’m worried about the dangers of taking this, I’ve read mixed reviews and if this proves to be a good short term solution it will be tough to stop using it although I probably will. If anyone reading this has been using pregnenolone for a long duration please leave your doses and any side affects/advice.

Hope it helps you. Please get back with your temp log. That life flow stuff is pretty weak but for some it is ok.

Bought my thermometer today and my temperature is strangely 96.3. I’ve tested it 4 times now and it’s stayed right there. My girlfriend just tested with same thermometer at 98.6. I’m going to keep a log throughout the day because my temp as long as I can remember has always been around 98.7. I’m currently reading about Wilsons Temperature Syndrome which is a problem that shows the same signs as a thyroid issue but all thyroid levels are normal and yet show symptoms very similar to mine…he has a solution and there is a Dr that lives close to me that is certified to treat Wilsons (if that’s what I have [and definitely caused by PFS]). It is still too early to tell and not all the facts are in so I’ll keep an open mind and see where logic points me next.

I have an appointment with a neurologist and an endocrinologist to check other issues - I think you’re on to something with this temperature thing.
