This reward announcemet will catch attention of many scientists and research companies. Also it will create big advertisement in Media. I am not against pfsfoundation but more research work is better. Colleting fund should be in an organised way. If Mes starts this, I promise I will donate $1000 each year.

This is a stroke of marketing genius. Great idea.
The maths add up, but everyone on the forum would have to commit. How many of the 3000 visit regularly enough to see it, let alone would definitely commit to it?
I wonder if we could appeal to a men’s health charity about this or some philanthropist. I also wonder if someone wealthy enough to stump up this kind of money might already be among us.
In truth, Merck should be covering this.
This is a great idea imo. I would also agree to $1000 a year until a cure is developed.
The PFSFoundation would be the best way to manage and promote it I would think.
In order to get this off the ground:
- PFSFoundation should survey PFS victims and families to get a solid estimate of commitments, and offer varying options of donation amounts, ie; $20, $40, $60, $100 a month.
- PFSFoundation would need to establish an online payment system whereby automatic payments are debited from accounts or charged to a credit card. (this would ensure monthly payment compliance and a steady stream of funding to rely on).
- Assuming the survey generates commitments of X people giving X amount monthly, the accumulated amount could be used as the targeted REWARD for whoever comes up with a cure, as well as having the potential for PFSFoundation to utilize a percentage of the funds for studies and their costs.
- Marketing of this REWARD amount in news media, TV, radio, online, would garner some SERIOUS attention to the insidious carnage which Finasteride can cause. I think this should be on 60 minutes.
I would expect the results of an effort like this to give Merck a huge black eye (not that you could see it on Ken Frasier though). And I would expect this could put the right type of pressure on Merck to actually DO something rather than being in perpetual denial.
And another ‘side effect’ of getting the word out globally would be an effective way to PREVENT men from taking this drug in the first place.

I would recommend a separate page with columns. First column for each member’s ID, Second for month, and fourth for donation to that date, and at the bottom total, I mean a spread sheet. This way it will be transparent to everyone. When new comers/ visitors will visit us, they will see how serious we are. Imagine there would be chat about pfs on TVS, news, News papers etc. It will shake the world. Also it will work pressurize Merck and they will be forced, either go defensive or come forward to help us.This is my guess which might be wrong.
I am not undermining pfsfoundation.org. Let them do their job. We want to find a faster cure for this. For some of us it has been 15 years in this syndrome. how long do you want to wait? Nobody wants to wait for ever. The more hands in the research , the mor are the chances for success.

I would imagine the cost of research and development into a cure would cost as much if not more than the reward, which would defeat the purpose.
merck should pay for us 1million for each.
Even if we dont find the cure rightaway but world will listen to us very clearly. This will be a big achievement.
