Flamingpie's story- Saw Palmetto Sufferer

#11

Hey UK, with the zinc I actually did feel great when I first started using it, but eventually the benefits faded away. I’ve been trying different doses with it for the past few months, but now I decided to ditch it, at least for now. And I think I’m going to do that with the cialis…have you ever purchased any from the internet?

So I know I said a little over a week ago that I had a little crash, funny thing was the day after I made that post I woke up feeling amazing. For 3-4 days straight I felt amazing like my old self. But of course, that little recovery went away. Now im back to how I’ve been for the past few months, morning wood every day but thats it.
I’ve purchased a bottle of horny goat weed, and I think I’m gonna save these as a backup in case of an emergency.

Sounds like you ar fluctuating a lot. It is SO frustrating.

#13

Ok now I am freaking out.

I was doing so good, and now im pretty much back where I started. Id say from Jan-April I had morning erections everyday. Now, ive gone almost 2 weeks without one. Not only that, but I masturbated today and my semem was watery and ejaculate didnt shoot out. I thought I had fixed this long ago.
I dont know why this is happening though. Everything Ive done in the past couple of months should have helped my recovery, not reverse it. I stopped using Nizoral shampoo, I started eating more fruit, been exercising at least 3 days a week, started taking l arginine.

Ive been using tribulus once every other day, should I switch to once a day? Also i stopped zinc long ago because it was giving me negative effects, think i should start up again?

#14

who advised you to tribulus?

#15

ive been using different dosages of tribulus for like a year and a half. It seemed from going through all these post on this site that tribulus is the one treatment that I see in almost everyones regime.

#16

spstriken, I take it you dont advise tribulus? What do you suggest i take then? If I drop the trib, all i got left in my regime is vitamin d3 and a multivitamin. Im worried that wont be enough.

#17

I have been advising people against Tribulus. I even put studies about it. It is as dangreous as SAw palmetto. Just google to see how many people have got Gyno after using Tribulus. There is a young man on musclechatroom.com who is having exactly the same issue as we do after using Tribulus for 6 months.

yes Vit D3 and multivits , if don’t make you better, will not make you worse.
I wrote about Badiaga homeopathic med. I used it for my musclecular degeneration and got daily morning errections. I stopped it about a month ago but still having ME. Even I got wet dream one night , but again I can not claim it is a cure.
If you want you can give it a shot for 3 - 4 weeks at low doses.

So today its been 2 years since I stopped taking saw palmetto, so I figured that warranted a little update. To no surprise I am still not fully recovered, but I am happy to see I have made some progress over these years. When I quit I completely crashed, and now I’d say im around 50%. I seem to always have nocturnal erections now, and most mornings I wake up with an erection, although they arent always strong. The main problem I’m still trying to get over is that I still cant get an erection by just seeing or thinking about something, and I never get random erections. I have made alot of improvements since stopping though, which is why im confident that in another 2 years Ill be done with all of this.
I have also cut back on alot of my treatments seeing if this can work itself out naturally. All i take as of now is a multivitamin daily, vitamin d daily and fish oil. I am slowly trying to get off tribulus too, I started taking it once daily, then cut back to once every other day, and now just twice a week. By the end of the summer Ill be completely off it.

So for a brief time i saw the light at the end of the tunnel.

For all of November and December, I felt like I was 100% recovered. I was waking up with rock hard erections, would get 4-5 random boners throughout the day, and have a very high libido. I thought I had put this all behind me.
Then one day towards the end of December I woke up and it was all gone. I started feeling the numbness again, no morning erections, and even when I would masturbate, they were very very weak.

Anyone else get a recover for this long and then it just totally disappeared?

I’m trying a whole new regime now to get my way back to normal. I haven’t taken any supplements in almost 6 months, but this week i think i might take some zinc every other day, maybe add d3 again (dropped it over the summer). What do you guys think?

Also, does anyone know good places online I could get some viagra or cialis? I was thinking of ordering some just to get some confidence back.

#20

Wow, 2 whole months at 100% and you just crash again? that is so cruel. I thought i had done well with a few recoveries lasting a single week. I guess that were well and truly fucked.

Unitedpharmacies and 4rx have generic viagra and cialis at decent prices - excellent service from both too, in my experience

#21

thats crazy… can you tell us anything that you did before hand that may have made a difference, anything you did differently?

#22

thinking back I wasn’t 100% recovered during this short period, but it definitely was the best I ever was…eh lets say 85% recovered.

I don’t think I was doing anything differently during the time I was feeling recovered. I stopped taking supplements back in October. All I have been taking is a multi vitamin and fish oil. Other than that Ive just been trying to eat as healthy as possible.

But I have no idea why I got this period of recovery and I have no idea why it went away. I think I’m gonna add vitamin D3 again. Maybe now that its winter and I havent been getting sunlight may have had a negative effect on me.

#23

I cant believe I’m almost approaching four years with these side effects.

Things have been fluctuating ever since my last post a year ago. I can have a week where I have morning wood and multiple random boners, then I’ll go like a month of complete numbness. I’ve added vitamin D3 to my regime again, and I feel like that has been having some improvements. I’m learning that increasing and decreasing my dosage depending on the weather is helpful.

Last weekend I had a massive scare when I picked up a girl at a bar. Right before we entered my bedroom I popped a viagra as a precaution…and I still couldn’t achieve a full erection. I’m hoping that it was because I was too drunk, otherwise I’m really screwed if ED drugs cant even help me.

I see alot of users have been doing water fasts with some promising results. I’m gonna try something like this now, but instead of going weeks without eating, I’m going to try just going 23 hours a day without eating, and then just having one meal. Any other suggestions on what I can do?

#24

My story is almost identical to yours, so I’m curious, how have things been? I just got off saw palmetto after 6 months and and trying to sort through it all but my libido is still continually decreasing

#25

May be not getting drunk?)

#26

Have your T tested.

#27

Hi flamingpie,

My story is very similar to yours, except than I am “only” 24 months off.

How are you doing nowadays? Has anything been helpful? Do you feel like you are more recovered than a few years ago, or have things been stable ever since?

#28

Hey man,

I definitely feel more recovered than I did a few years ago, but I’m still a long ways off. The biggest improvement is that now I get periods where I feel normal that last a little while. For instance, from Dec 23rd all the way to Jan 5th I felt fantastic. Like I woke up every morning with an erection, I would get random erections throughout the day, my junk always looked healthy, normal ejaculation, full on libido. But now for the past couple of weeks I’ve felt shitty again. Not as shitty as I ever felt 2 years ago, but still shitty. I don’t know what it is. The thing that drives me crazy the most is I get that weird curve in my dick where it gets super skinny just in the middle.

Those periods of feeling normal have popped up several times in 2015, i think there may have been like 6 week long periods where I felt like that, so I know my body is definitely improving. But it just gets so stressful when they come on and I just assume that it’ll stay permanently.

Some things I’ve done in the past year that may have helped: joined a gym and do heavy weight lifting 3x a week and cardio 1x a week. I also now carb backload, meaning that on days I don’t do weight lifting I keep my carb intake below 30g, and on days I weight train I have a carb heavy dinner. I also now take a magnesium supplement 3x a week and glutamine 3x a week.

The one thing I did notice during that 2 week recovery period recently was that during that time I was shitting ALOT. I normally don’t poop that much, usually like once a week. But during this period I was going at least once a day. I know I’ve read a lot on this forum as well as solvepfs that people think pfs has somehow caused damage to our digestive system and we may have bacteria/parasites/excess estrogen backed up in there, and that enemas and colon cleanses are a good way to flush this stuff out. I’m gonna be honest I don’t understand any of the science behind these theories, and I try not to spend too much time on these forums trying to figure them out. But there might be a connection. In fact another time I had a week long recovery back in June it was right after I had to get a colonoscopy and I had to drink those prep drinks that have you shitting for 12 hours straight.

For now I’m gonna continue what I’ve been doing, maybe even increase the amount of fiber rich foods in my diet, and continue to try and avoid visiting these forums. I actually highly advise that. Stay off the boards and keep your mind occupied on other things. Hopefully I can come back here in a few more months with some more positive news.

Try Ashwaghanda every day. Authentic Shilajit also helps.

These steps also helps to raise DHT

Thanks for sharing your story man, as many others can relate, having a community of other people here is really helpful in the midst of a crash like I am now. Seems like we’re going to be slaves to a healthy lifestyle for possibly the rest of our lives. I had a week filled with unhealthy choices and now I’m back at 50% when Iv been at 80 for the last couple months.

Any update on your progress?
